About

Eddie DeBock

My name is Eddie DeBock, and I provide a service that I strongly believe in: installing safety grab bars. When I worked in general construction and union carpentry, I felt that more consideration needed to be given to providing safe environments in homes, especially bathrooms. As a result, I created my company, Safety 1st Grab Bars, and have been doing this work exclusively ever since.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) reports that approximately 235,000 people of all ages are treated in emergency rooms each year in the U.S. due to injuries sustained from falls in the bathroom. While those 65 and older account for the majority of the falls, children and younger adults make up a significant percentage. Many of those who fall suffer moderate to severe injuries such as bruises, hip fractures, or head traumas. And falls are the leading cause of fatal injury among older adults, with a significant number of these occurring in the bathroom. For older adults, while a fall may not be immediately fatal, it often precipitates an eventual, sharp decline in health.

When someone slips in the bathroom without safety grab bars, they instinctively reach out simply for what's available: a shower curtain, towel bar, sink, hamper, wall. None of these provide anything near the safety of a properly-installed grab bar.

Using the highest quality tools, drill bits, and secure mounts, I safely and confidently install grab bars in a variety of materials, from basic drywall, wood, and brick to more delicate ceramic tile, glass tile, and fine marble, just to name a few.

As for the grab bars themselves, I am extremely impressed with the build quality and design of Moen products. However, there are a number of other manufacturers that produce quality hardware. So if you prefer a particular grab bar, and it meets the appropriate safety standards, I will be happy to install it.

I take great pride in my work. I take the time to discuss with my clients not just what they are looking for but also what they need. And I take the time and do the job with the proper care to ensure that it's done right. While this is my business, the end result of my work also provides another reward: making it possible for people to live more safely and longer in their own homes.
