Installation
Locations
Safety grab bars can be installed securely in any room to aid in moving through risky areas. The most common places include:
- Bath Tubs
- Shower Stalls
- Toilets
- Stairways
- Hallways
- Walkways
- Kitchens
Injuries occur most frequently in and around the tub and shower as well as when trying to stand up from the toilet. This is precisely why these are the three most common locations where grab bars are installed.

Surfaces
Using the highest quality tools, drill bits, and mounts, safety grab bars can be installed securely on virtually any surface. Some of these include:
- Drywall
- Wood
- Brick
- Ceramic Tile
- Glass Tile
- Fine Marble

Unsafe Items
When people try to balance themselves or begin to fall but do not have safety grab bars installed, they instinctively grab onto items such as:
- Shower Curtains
- Towel Bars
- Hampers
- Sinks
- Walls
These items were never intended to support a significant portion of a person's body weight and so should not be relied on. Doing so could result in a serious injury.
One should also be certain that any existing grab bars were installed properly — secured with the required mounts and positioned correctly.

Suction Cup Grab Bars
While suction cup grab bars are often advertised as a quick and easy solution for grab bar "installation," they are simply unreliable:
- They can detach unexpectedly as suction strength can weaken over time due to moisture, temperature changes, or surface imperfections.
- They do not adhere well to textured tile, grout lines, or painted walls.
- They are not designed to bear a significant portion of a person's body weight. Not surprisingly, they're often advertised as stabilizers, not true weight-bearing safety devices.
